Welcome! For you who don’t know, ‘squirting’ is the explosive expulsion of a characteristic (and sexy) clear fluid from a woman’s vagina, which can happen during female orgasm.
As you may have noticed, not every woman can squirt. Some do only occasionally, while a few others ejaculate (“squirt”) almost every time they have an orgasm. Apparently, most (academic) studies estimate that at least 6% of the women squirt more or less regularly. Some surveys claim the percentage to be much higher, with about half of the women having experienced some level of squirting at least once – usually during an orgasm that was exceptionally intense. I am not a physician, but this seems to be the Google consensus using only serious academic sources.
If it is of any significance, almost half of my friends and classmates claim to squirt when they cum, although most of them only do when they cum really hard, or when they touch themselves.
However only a few of my male friends say they have actually seen a girl squirting, so something definitely does not compute here – 🙂 but this is not a scientific study, and obviously has no statistical relevance (despite the fact that I have actually asked pretty much all my classmates, and actually some have even ‘proven’ it to me – and yes, they are not lying.)
Until quite recently, it was even debated by modern medicine whether squirting was a ‘real’ phenomenon, or just a ‘myth’. Well, it turns out that it’s real, but the 
fact that it was for so long clouded in mystery has helped creating an aura of legend around it. But then again, after all almost every aspect of female sexuality has been clouded in some level of mystery, until amazingly recent times. A few dozens of years ago some respectable studies that were seriously questioning even whether girls can actually have any kind of orgasm (of course the answer is NOT, we NEVER EVER cum, we are all just pretending, all the time 🙂 :-).
Except when we squirt, of course… 🙂 Which brings us to the point. Most men like to see girls squirt, and some girls like it (this includes, admittedly, myself). The point is that for men it’s obvious when they are enjoying sex: their orgasm tends to spray cum all over the place. For girls, no matter how much they scream, you can never be totally sure – except when they squirt. Which is one of the reasons why squirting is cool.
In some cultures, even contemporary ones, squirting seems to be much more widespread than in the Western world. Which probably means, barring any physiological difference, that squirting can be learned, at least to some extent. Among the Batoro, an indigenous population of Uganda, older women teach pubescent girls how to squirt: in fact, teenager girls are deemed ready for marriage only when they prove they can squirt while masturbating. (One frequent claim is that teen girls and adolescents squirt more, but on the other hand many women seem to learn it only later in life, so there’s a bit of contradiction here..)
Another frequent claim, also never really proven, is that squirting women tend to be sexually hotter than the others. Some older “studies” have even claimed that squirters are mostly nymphomaniacs (“sluts”, in standard English 🙂 ) . Such papers, dating back to the XIX century, had therefore a strong moral bias against squirting. I am happy to leave in times, though, where telling a 
girl she’s hot is usually considered a compliment (tell me I’m hot as many times as you want… I won’t get tired of it.)
In any case, I have no clue whether the equation squirter=hotter has any merit. In this case I would not bet my money against it, though. To mention again my absolutely-non-scientific / non-peer-reviewed study amongst my peers and classmates, I have to say that the half that can squirt coincides almost perfectly with the sexually happier once, with a number of cases of extremely happy sluts 🙂 (Some of them agreed to join my “squirting-themed parties” and to be taped, so you may have a chance to see them on video, and if you wish to come over even to see them in person.)
I am not an actual squirter myself, although it has “almost” happened at times. (This despite the fact that my orgasm are usually very intense, at least that’s my impression) I certainly do not spray all over, several times in a row, as my friend Barbie does.
